AFLMA Committee:

Email the Committee at
John Papadakos (President)
John became a Full member in 1992 (Melbourne Club Support) and is a Mathematics teacher at Bentleigh Secondary College (since 1984). He has served on school council for over 10 years and is a life member of the Brighton East Cricket Club. He enjoys his football and became an AFL member in the days when the AFL played the "best game of the round" at VFL Park.

Dr Jenny Bourke(Vice President)
Jenny has been a Full AFL member (North Melbourne Club Support) for more than 10 years. She is a lifelong member of North Melbourne Kangaroos Football Club and was a statistician for the club from 1978 to 1999. She is now a member of the Shinboner Spirit supporters group, raising funds for the Kangaroos football department. She has been a GP for 20 years and is a partner in the Alphington Medical Centre. Jenny became an AFL member in the days when there was an expectation that all AFL members would be able to attend finals games and that we were a valuable component of the AFL community. After years of erosions of our previous rights she hopes to assist the AFLMA in communicating AFL member's wishes to the AFL, raising the AFL's respect for their members and improving AFL member's rights.

John Meehan
John is a foundation AFL member joining on the same day that nominations were called for the then "VFL Park" membership. John is acutely aware of the good times for AFL members and is deeply concerned at the erosion of member privileges in recent years. John is a lifelong Collingwood supporter and attends all Melbourne games and the very occasional interstate game. His two sons are AFL Collingwood Club Support members. John is the Corporate Services Manager for the Bureau of Meteorology in Victoria and has served on many committees at work, socially and with junior football. John is very confident that the AFLMA will make significant gains in restoring and improving members rights.

Gary Marchant
Gary is a foundation AFL member joining on the same day that nominations were called for the then "VFL Park" membership and is a Melbourne Club Support member. He is also an MCC and Axcess One member and MFC Redlegs Social Club member. Gary has been disappointed and frustrated with the destruction of Sir Kenneth Luke's dream for AFL members. Gary has attended every successive Melbourne home and away, interstate and finals game from 1981. Gary has also attended at least one AFL/VFL match including Finals and Grand Finals every weekend since 1960 except for in 1979 when he played 10 A-Grade home and away games for Macleod Rosanna in the Diamond Valley Football League. In 1978 and 1979 Gary was assistant Secretary and Secretary of Macleod Rosanna Football Club and Secretary of the Viewbank Cricket Club. He was a Statistician of the Melbourne Football Club from 1981 to 1984 and again from 1994 to present. In 2002 he was the MFC Family Members Forum representative and is now the MFC AFL Members Forum representative for 2003. Gary's wife, three children, parents, sister and many relatives and many friends are all AFL full members who want the AFL to respect their loyalty as long standing supporters and members of the greatest game on earth. Gary is interested in commencing an ongoing project of setting up a VFL/AFL memorabilia collection with other AFL members.
Ian Pike
Ian has been an AFL member for about 10 years (Collingwood Club Support) He is manager of Rainbow Plumbtec; a plumbing & electrical supply store in Diamond Creek and Bayswater. Ian went on Neil Mitchell's program twice on 3AW when he received his unsuccessful ballot letter and gave his phone number out on air. He was inundated with phone calls from other disgruntled AFL members and the growth of the AFLMA began.
